11 February 2021
Last time I wrote was 8 March 2020, almost a year now. So many things happened. Covid happened, I stopped working, my husband stopped school. And on July 2020, I started dialysis. Prior to his, I had surgeries, minor ones. I was scheduled for a surgery for a fistula. Screenshot of what my fistula is attached below. I have it on my left arm. On the day of my surgery, they had to add a vas cath as my kidney function is only on 8%, a brief explanation from google is attached below as well. Two days after, my Nephrologist called me to head to the dialysis unit as I need a session for an hour and a half as my kidney function is only 6%, just two days after.

Anyway, from then on, I had to do dialysis three times a week. Started from an hour and a half then two hours then three hours then four hours. So as of February 2021, I still have to do dialysis three times a week for four hours. Fortunately, I have the best Nephrologist in Canberra, he was able to move mountains to be able to put me on a waitlist for kidney transplant. I had a bunch of tests to do, most of it were first times in my life such as mammogram, Pap smear, Sestamibi and other more. I also needed Hepatitis B and Varicella Vaccine. In between those months, I had another surgery, my fistula, it was deep so the doctors had to lift it higher for nurses to be able to access it easier, I have this scar, battle scar. I have had my Vas Cath out once my fistula was working for a month and more. Using the fistula was scary as I know it was two big needles. At first I would use numbing patches but it irritated my skin and I had to stop. I did not want to use local anaesthetic as that will result to four needles. So now, I am somehow used to the needles, it hurts for a minute then it is all good.
Sorry, I am just typing through, so so many things happened but for now, I will leave it to this. I will post more picture soon and write more of what happened. I have to cook dinner now as my husband will be home soon from work, it is the least I can do for him. See you all laters.
